讲座简介:
This lecture examines similarities and differences between China and the West with respect to such issues as the role of the teacher, the nature of student-learning, and the purpose of education in general and specialized education in the sciences, applied sciences, and humanities specifically. It asks the question whether our increasingly specialized and competitive global culture has replaced more traditional ideas of education with a view of specialized, professional learning that neglects the humanistic values that once dominated the learning process.
